Spaghetti Squash

The last year or so I have been trying new recipes.  Some I have loved, and some I have not enjoyed.  I thought I would share one recipe I did enjoy. Well how to cook spaghetti squash anyhow. You can do tones with it.  In case you don’t know what it looks like, I didn’t! This is what it looks like!

So to start off with, get a sharp knife.  This is a hard fruit…..”Biologically it is a fruit as it contains the seed of the squash plant, despite the fact that is used as a vegetable in cookery.”  You need to cut it in half.


Now clean it out.  Get all of the seeds out of it.  Then drizzle your favourite oil on it.  I love Avocado Oil, as shown.

Now bake it in the oven for 45 minutes to an hour at 400 degrees F.  It will look and smell amazing!


Now take a fork and pull the sides of the Squash to the centre to create the spaghetti noodles.

After you are done you can put all of the cooked spaghetti squash noodles into a bowl.

img_6775Now the size of the squash will determine the amount of noodles that are made.  While I waited for the Squash to bake I made my favourite meat sauce with ground turkey.  Then I combined my desired amount of noodles into a container with my desired amount of meat sauce with my desired amount of vegetables.  Vague, but you can follow your macros or meal plan.  Or for those just making better choices, your portion will be what ever your hungry for.


So there you have it.  A simple recipe for a healthier you.  P.S.  My kids did enjoy this.
