Three Years Ago

Three years ago, today. I had a spinal stimulator implanted into my back. 6 years ago this week I sustained a spinal cord injury.

As I reflect on my progress I want you to remember that injuries don’t have to define you. They may shape your life but they don’t have to end it.

Learn how to modify movements and exercises so you can be successful. If I can do it. You can do it!

Three years ago I began day 1 of a brutal 8 week recovery from a spinal cord implant surgery.  It was a game changer but it was the hardest 8 weeks of my life.

This is what I had implanted into my back.  It works wonders but its not 100% so I definitely have days where the pain is so bad I have to lay on the floor just to get relief.

March 2017, I did my first bodybuilding show which was a bucket list item.  I ended up placing 5th.

My second show was July 2017.  I placed 1st at this show.

My third show was in August 2018 and I didn’t end up placing at this show.

I did my 4th show in November 2018 and again I didn’t end up placing at this show.

My 6th show was in April 2019 and I placed 3rd in both Open and Masters Classes.

All I want to stress is injuries are no joke.  Spinal cord injuries at that.  I have chosen not to allow my spinal cord injury to define me.  It may take me longer, but I won’t give up.  I will do a 7th show and I will come with an even more amazing package.

Do what makes you happy.  You are worth it.  If I can do it, YOU can do it.
